A man with a knife who had assaulted a family member and was experiencing a mental health issue triggered a hours-long standoff in Ashburn late Thursday into Friday morning.
Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a home on Ocean Cliff Square in Moorefield Station around 8:15 p.m. for a report of a domestic assault. Deputies located a victim, who was checked by EMS, and the suspect armed himself with a knife and retreated into the house.
