New traffic pattern planned for Evansville’s East Side

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – Officials say a new traffic pattern will impact the Cross Pointe Boulevard and Burkhardt Road intersections starting on or after August 17.

Officials with the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) say work to move barricades and shift lanes for Phase 3 of construction will take several days to complete. Drivers should remain alert, follow posted signs and obey the construction speed limit.

INDOT notes as part of Phase 3, the newly built Displaced Left Turn (DLT) will be used for westbound left turns from the Lloyd Expressway onto southbound Cross Pointe Boulevard or Burkhardt Road. Officials point out that DLTs require motorists to queue up before reaching the main intersection. Signs and signals will guide drivers through the intersection.

Applications open for Data Center Research Committee

At Lloyd Expressway and Cross Pointe Boulevard:

  • Westbound drivers on the Lloyd Expressway turning left onto southbound Cross Pointe Boulevard/Eagle Crest Boulevard will use the new signalized DLT lanes. Be alert to occasional restrictions.
  • Eastbound drivers on the Lloyd Expressway will continue to utilize the existing left-turn lanes at the main intersection.
  • Right turns from westbound Lloyd Expressway onto northbound Cross Pointe Boulevard may be temporarily restricted at times.
