Atatiana Jefferson: Fort Worth agrees to pay $11.25M to family of woman fatally shot by former police officer

The city of Fort Worth has agreed to pay $11.25 million to the family of Atatiana Jefferson, the Black woman who was fatally shot by former police officer Aaron Dean.

Per FOX 4, the settlement agreement came after the city also agreed to pay Jefferson’s nephew, Zion Carr, $3.5 million. Carr and Jefferson were together at the time that she was fatally shot.

Carr and Jefferson’s other nephew will receive a significant share of the $11.25 million payment. The money will be put into trust funds for the pair. The rest of the money will be shared among Jefferson’s other family members. They include her siblings and her biological father, who currently resides in Nigeria…
