Las Vegas mom turned business owner flourishes with microbakery

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A Las Vegas mom turned business owner is flourishing with her at-home bakery. She shared with 8 News Now her entrepreneurial journey, juggling costs in this every changing economy.

It’s been one year since Amanda Slade opened her microbakery a year ago. Keep it Hapa Bakery is located in North Las Vegas, well known for its easy grab-and-go sweet treats all right in this shed in front of Slade’s house. The idea started after Slade had her firstborn daughter.

“When I had my oldest daughter, I was teaching at the time and I didn’t want to go back to teaching and her go to daycare so we decided like let’s start baking and I was baking for our family anyway so I was like let me try it out,” explained Slade.

Slade says daycare costs were rising and unexpected work schedules made it that much harder to work…
