The focus on the recruiting trail for the Oregon Ducks has quickly shifted from the 2027 recruiting class to the top prospects in the 2028 cycle. The first step in building a recruiting class is typically identifying and landing the best quarterback possible, as they’re usually the position that commits earlier than anyone else.
The dominoes at the quarterback position have started to fall quickly, as 5 of the top 10 quarterbacks in the class have already announced commitments. The next few weeks are only going to bring more commitments ahead of the High School football season, and the good news is that Dan Lanning and the staff have Oregon right in the mix.
Trey Wright’s commitment holds major stakes for Oregon
On Thursday, elite quarterback recruit Trey Wright scheduled his commitment announcement for Saturday, August 15th. The Ducks will have a hat on the table for the announcement, as will USC, Kentucky, SMU, and Arizona.

When the announcement is made and the Ducks aren’t the pick, there’s no reason to be alarmed or disappointed. Oregon hasn’t hosted Trey Wright on a visit to this point, and he hasn’t seemed like a top priority for the staff…
