PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Big H.O.M.I.E.S., in partnership with the City of Portsmouth Parks and Recreation, is inviting the public to attend the 6th Annual Balling on the River & Back-to-School Bash on Saturday.
The free, family-friendly event aims to bring together youth, families, community organizations, businesses and city partners for a full day of back-to-school support, basketball, entertainment and community engagement.
The festivities on Saturday will include:
- Basketball tournament and exhibition games (along with a 3-Point contest)
- Community resources
- Free backpacks and school supplies
- Free food
- Gamer bus
- Live music and entertainment (including a performance by YSN Capo)
- The Community Challenge Game, where participating organizations will compete for a $5,000 cash prize
- Youth and family activities
The basketball game schedule is listed below:
- 3:00 p.m. — City Department Game
- 4:00 p.m. — REC League vs. Big H.O.M.I.E.S. — Elementary Division
- 5:00 p.m. — REC League vs. Big H.O.M.I.E.S. — Middle School Division
- 6:00 p.m. — Finney Family Foundation vs. C.U.T.S. YEP
