NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — City officials said they have been aware of the conditions at the Parc Fontaine Apartments for quite some time.
“Just the overall quality of life at Park Fontaine was subpar,” New Orleans City Councilman Freddie King said. “I did walk through with some residents about a year ago, and you saw green swimming pools. You saw apartments that were empty and not properly locked up. We had reports of crime. We saw mold.”
Now, they are optimistic about there being changes with the national housing non-profit, The Mary Fund, taking over the complex.

“I’m hopeful with a new ownership team who spent $33 million on a property,” King said. “With that type of investment, they’re looking to do some good things, because the people there deserve better.”…
