ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The City of Albuquerque celebrated a new welcome sign last month, but lanes near it are still closed. The city told KRQE News 13 that a mistake is causing more traffic delays.

Near the area on Central and Tramway, drivers are welcomed by a new sign. The Route 66 East Gateway sign was installed and lit up last month, something the city celebrated as part of the mother road’s centennial festivities.
But since that celebration, the area is still an annoyance for drivers. After the sign was installed, two of the center lanes closest to the structure were closed for safety reasons, but weeks later, those lanes are still closed, after a mistake with the shape of the railings…
