Historic Marriott Syracuse Downtown hotel celebrates 10 years of re-opening

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Just recently celebrating the 100th anniversary of the building in 2024, guests gathered at the Marriott Syracuse Downtown hotel on Friday, Aug. 14 to celebrate 10 years of memories.

Initially the Hotel Syracuse, the historic building was restored and reopened in 2016, with support from the community. After facing many ups and downs, developer Ed Riley is thankful for the anniversary turnout.

“This would not have happened unless the entire community came together, it was the city, and the county, and the state, and the private sector, and a lot of business people in town stepping up and saying ‘Okay, let’s get behind this and get it done,’ said Riley at the celebration.

Riley’s vision has helped preserve Syracuse history, while creating a bit of his own. His efforts over the last decade were recognized by Syracuse Mayor Sharon Owens at the ceremony…
