North Tulsa church turns school supply giveaway into party for hundreds of families

TULSA, Okla. – Hundreds of families left Sanctuary Evangelistic Church Sunday afternoon with more than just backpacks and school supplies — some kids also walked away with a fresh haircut and a little extra confidence heading into the school year.

More than 300 families came through the church’s annual back to school bash, which ran from 1 to 4 p.m. and included free backpacks, school supplies and clothes. This year, organizers expanded the event to include free haircuts, hairstyling, face painting, music and sno-cones.
