Prosecution witnesses took the stand Monday in the homicide trial of Tra-Varius Ramsey and Khalil Pannell, who face charges in connection with the fatal shooting of 21-year-old Canyon McGarvey on Jan. 17, 2025.
Investigators say McGarvey pulled over on the 1800 block of Fairmount Parkway to conduct a drug deal when an attempted robbery occurred. According to police, Ramsey is the primary suspect accused of shooting McGarvey in the head, while Pannell is accused of supplying the firearm used in the killing.
The prosecution’s first witness testified that she and her fiancé arrived at the crime scene moments after the shooting occurred. She testified that they saw McGarvey’s body fall out of his car, observed a young man running away from the scene and saw another person, who identified himself as McGarvey’s friend, exit the vehicle…
