Local nonprofit helps fight human trafficking

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — This year, Women At Risk, International, a Grand Rapids based non-profit, marks 20 years of fighting human trafficking in West Michigan and in other parts of the world. They not only help women, children, and men, escape exploitation, but they also provide safe places for them to heal and to live life again by creating circles of protection around victims, helping them to gain employment, and start a new life. To help do that, Women At Risk holds educational programs and operates a boutique selling hand-crafted items made by at-risk and rescued women and men.
