One thing about Worcester: if a particular culture has enough representation in town, at some point in the summer, there will be a festival.
One of the longest-running of these festivals is the Italian Festival, run by Our Lady of Mt. Carmel & Loreto Parish on Massasoit Road, and this year, thousands of Worcesterites packed the big top tent in the parish’s parking lot over four days to celebrate the unique Italian-American mix of “the old country” and local tradition.
The festivities ran almost all day Aug. 15, which, being a Saturday, was the festival’s busiest, and people wandered to try the wide range of foods on offer, then gathered around long tables by the stage to catch up with each other as singer Joe Cariglia delivered classics made famous by Italian-American crooners…
