BELVIDERE — A family-owned restaurant that prides itself on serving authentic Chicago street food with over-the-top hospitality cut the ribbon Monday on its first brick-and-mortar business.
Zae’s Classic Chicago Hotdog & Polish has opened at 455 Southtown Drive after renovating a former Taco Bell along U.S. Route 20 near the Salvation Army Family Store & Donation Center. Owners Marlon and Maegen English started Zae’s as a food truck on June 11, 2022, with a goal in mind to eventually open a restaurant.
“Today is definitely history in the making. We built something that is our own. It’s unique. … We’re hoping in the years to come that it can continue on. That we’ve built a legacy for our family,” Maegen English said. “We’re beyond grateful. … We are truly living a dream.”…
