LAS VEGAS (KLAS) β Crews gained more control of wildfires north of Reno over the weekend, and all evacuations caused by the Bug Fire have been lifted. A new wildfire in central Nevada grew to nearly 8,000 acres.
The Bug Fire is now 85% contained at 93,733 acres. The human-caused fire started on Aug. 8, and joined with the smaller Fred Mountain Fire. Itβs the largest wildfire in Nevada this year, although it started in California. Residents in Antelope Valley, Rancho Haven and Red Rock were able to return to their homes on Monday, and all schools in the area were open.
Families could be learning about damage to their homes or property as they return.
The Stallion Fire just to the east is 82% contained at 40,691 acres. An isolated area near the center of the Stallion Fire is still under evacuation orders. The fire β also human-caused β started on the same day that Gov. Joe Lombardo declared a state of emergency…
