Fugitive arrested following 2025 pursuit in Isle of Wight County

ISLE OF WIGHT COUNTY, Va. (WAVY)– The U.S. Marshals announced they have arrested a fugitive in connection to a 2025 pursuit that led to gunfire in Isle of Wight County.

Adonis Butler, 22, was arrested by the USMS Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force Norfolk Division around 11 a.m. Monday morning. Officials say he was taken into custody in the 200 block of Cunningham Drive in Hampton without incident.

On July 22, 2025, a Virginia State Police trooper attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a Chevrolet Impala on Route 17. The vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed and failed to stop, which initiated a pursuit.

That pursuit later ended when the vehicle became stuck on a median.

After exiting the vehicle, state police say Butler displayed a firearm and the trooper fired his service weapon at him. Butler fled the scene on foot, leaving two passengers in the vehicle…
