Albuquerque City Council approves tax incentives on hotel development in Sawmill District

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Albuquerque City Council approved tax incentives to develop two franchise hotels in the Sawmill District. The $40-million development will be two connected hotels, a Hampton Inn and Home2 Suites near Old Town, between the Museum District and the Sawmill Market. The two hotels would be owned and managed by the local firm, Sun Capital Hotels.

The 135-room, dual-branded hotel property would not have a restaurant or bar on site, a selling point for many who say it would boost spending at surrounding small businesses. But others have concerns about increased traffic.
