BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Shafter City Council is set to consider a proposed addition to the city’s municipal code on Tuesday that would directly ban sleeping or camping in public spaces.
The proposed ordinance is up for first reading during the City Council’s regular Tuesday meeting, according to the agenda. The Council is not expected to vote on this ordinance for adoption at this meeting.

The ordinance, if approved, would amend Chapter 9 in the city’s municipal code by adding a section regulating sleeping in public spaces in Shafter.
