Something is clearly rotten in Hambden Township, where a firefighter who was also treasurer of the volunteer fire department is accused of stealing about $1.6 million from January 2023 to May 2026. He is now apparently so broke he sits in jail and, at last report, hadn’t posted the $50,000 bail (“Former Hambden Twp. assistant fire chief pleads not guilty in $1.6M theft case,” cleveland.com, Aug. 17).
But the question should also be asked if something is not rotten at JACK Thistledown Racino in North Randall, where most of the stolen money was reportedly gambled away…
