A man was found unconscious and not breathing on East 116th Street on Wednesday after suffering a gunshot wound to the head, according to initial dispatch information from the fatal shooting call. Cleveland police and EMS units responded to the scene, and the man did not survive.

On July 6, an overnight quadruple shooting near East 116th and Buckeye Road left 30-year-old Sharon Walker dead and three others injured after Fourth District officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert, according to WKYC. Two 17-year-old girls and a 21-year-old man were transported to a hospital in stable condition in that attack.
The street has also seen violence tied to its parks and public spaces.
