Call for fire in tanker prompted precautionary evacuations in Toledo, air quality testing underway

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – Authorities asked the public to evacuate an area around Front Street and Millard Avenue in Toledo amid a HAZMAT investigation, according to Lucas County EMA.

HAZMAT crews were called out to an industrial area of Toledo in the 300 block of George Hardy Drive Tuesday afternoon. A spokesperson for Toledo Fire and Rescue said they received a call about a fire in a tanker.

Fire crews were checking on air quality readings early Tuesday evening, describing it as a “hurry up and wait” situation as they wait on results.

No one was injured and TFRD crews haven’t been able to find anything of concern at this point. The EPA has also responded to the area…
