AKRON, Ohio (WJW) – Summit County property owners lined up outside of the Firestone Park Community Center on Wednesday eager to challenge the re-evaluation of their properties, in many cases believing the numbers are unrealistic and inflated.
The re-evaluation notices went out in July and residents who disagree with the assessments have just one more week, until August 27, to challenge.
“Every six years the Ohio Department of Taxation requires county auditors to conduct a new reappraisal. Each county is set at a different schedule so every county is not on the same year,” said Mike Migden, chief of staff for the Summit County Fiscal Office.
