Jeep Driver Reaches 120 MPH Before Deputy Ends Chase With a Pit Maneuver

A maroon Jeep allegedly reached 120 mph on Highway 101 before a Sonoma County deputy used a PIT maneuver to disable it. The driver then reportedly left the Jeep and continued on foot.

The pursuit began at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 16. The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were responding to a report of a man and woman physically fighting inside the vehicle.

Deputies located the Jeep and attempted a traffic stop. The sheriff’s office identified the driver as 23-year-old Charlie Mazariegos of Santa Rosa and said he instead accelerated south on Highway 101…
