Fire damages conveyor system at Chesapeake Amazon facility

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — A fire at the Amazon distribution center on Portsmouth Boulevard in Chesapeake Wednesday afternoon caused “minimal” damage to a second-floor conveyor system, a Chesapeake Fire Department official said.

There were no reports of injuries.

Firefighters responded to the fire at the distribution center at 5045 Portsmouth Blvd. around 1:05 p.m., and when they arrived nine minutes later, employees reported a fire involving the conveyor system on the second floor, according to Capt.
