Known for its sprawling all-you-can-eat seafood buffets, mountains of crab legs, and elaborate nautical design, the Virginia Beach location has been welcoming hungry seafood lovers for more than four decades.
Founded by George and Sherry Pitsilides, who come from a Greek immigrant family, the first Captain George’s opened in Virginia Beach in 1982. Today, the restaurant has four locations across the East Coast, including in Williamsburg, Virginia; Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; and Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina.
And while the buffet is certainly a major draw, there’s much more to Captain George’s than an impressive amount of seafood. From its stained glass ceilings to its nautical decor, nearly every detail was designed to celebrate the coastal communities the restaurant calls home.
