LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders said on Wednesday that she had appointed Cory Cox as Special Justice to the state Supreme Court.
Cox will temporarily take the seat held by Justice Barbara W. Webb, who is temporarily unable to serve. Cox’s appointment runs through Dec. 31 or until Webb’s return to the bench.
Arkansas Supreme Court chief requests Special Justice appointment
Cory Cox has served as a special justice on the Arkansas Supreme Court in multiple cases. He began his career as assistant legal counsel and deputy legal counsel for then-Gov. Mike Huckabee, focusing on criminal justice issues. Cox later held roles with the Arkansas Insurance Department, the Office of the Commissioner of State Lands and the Arkansas Department of Human Services, and served as legislative director and chief of staff in the Arkansas Attorney General’s office.
