32-year-old downtown Spokane ministry shuts down, citing terminated lease

SPOKANE, Wash. – A 32-year-old ministry that distributed over 80,000 meals to people in downtown Spokane during 2025 announced it would be forced to relocate after a new building owner set an end date for the ministry’s lease.

Shalom Ministries operates out of the basement of the historic church at 518W 3rd Ave and runs programs like Dining with Dignity, which serves 84,000 meals annually, Pathways, which provides job and life skill training and assistance, and the Connections Poetry Workshop.
