Cherokee County leaders put the brakes on apartments

Cherokee County has issued a 30-day pause on applications for apartments and other multifamily housing while county staff study their impact on county services and resources.

On Tuesday, the Cherokee County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved a 30-day moratorium on the acceptance of applications or plans for any multifamily residential zoning, including apartment developments. The moratorium went into effect immediately and applies to unincorporated areas.
