RIO RANCHO, N.M. (KRQE) – One hundred days into the job, Rio Rancho Mayor Paul Wymer said he’s already checked some big items off his list. As one of New Mexico’s fastest-growing communities keeps expanding, the new mayor is also facing some familiar problems.
It’s been over a decade since Rio Rancho had a new mayor. Now, 100 days in, Paul Wymer said he jumped right to it. “Of course, the very first day was we met with a budget meeting, and so that was very much hit the ground running,” said Wymer.
The former city councilor says he was already familiar with city hall’s inner workings, but his first three months have largely been about getting the house in order, helping fill 21 board and commission seats, and picking a new city councilor. “We will have about a 92%, 93% rate of filled seats. So we’ll still have a little bit of vacancy, but we’ve done very well at that,” said Wymer…
