Nevada State High School CEO admonished for ethics violations, ordered to make ‘substantial’ changes

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The CEO of Nevada State High School was admonished by the Nevada Commission on Ethics Wednesday and agreed to pay a $2,500 fine for approving her own employment contract and approving payments to her spouse.

Melissa McCormick, who took over at Nevada State High School last year, agreed to a stipulated order that will require her to oversee substantial schoolwide changes within six months. The stipulation states that the violations were non-willful, but the entire organization will have to go through ethics training, and the charter school must adopt an ethics policy, according to a Nevada Commission on Ethics news release.
