The month of August is recognized as National Dog Month. It was founded by the Milk Bone brand Company in 2020 to celebrate dogs, acknowledge how they enrich human lives, and support dog rescue groups and charities during the full month of August.
However, back in 2004 National Dog Day was already founded by pet lifestyle expert Colleen Paige and National Dog Day is coming up on August 26, 2026.
There are few events planned for National Dog Day here in the Scenic City.
On Saturday August 22, the Martin-Boyd Christian Home is hosting their 3rd Annual Dog Days of Summer at 11 a.m. Bring your favorite four-legged friend and join their tail-wagging good time filled with adorable pups, friendly competition, and plenty of laughs.
