Collateral Damage: Medicaid fraud crackdown leaves Ohio patient without care

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — For Jeremy Pauley, losing access to a certified nurse wasn’t just a paperwork problem. The 37-year-old Whitehall resident, paralyzed from the neck down, said he was given just three days’ notice that his home health care agency would no longer provide services — leaving him scrambling to fill a gap he said can be life-threatening.

Pauley, who became a quadriplegic after an accident at 18, relies on a Medicaid waiver that funds certified nursing care in his home. He describes the tasks a certified nurse fulfills.

“Doing your wound care, feeding, showers, like it’s all hands on because from the neck down, essentially I’m paralyzed,” Pauley said…
