COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — Les Wexner, Ohio’s richest man, stepped down as chair of the Wexner Medical Center Board on Thursday but will remain on the board.
Wexner, 88, has not attended a board meeting in over a year. An Ohio State spokesperson confirmed that Wexner stepped down as chair Thursday but will remain on the board as chair emeritus. The Wexner Medical Center Board appointed Robert Schottenstein as the new chair. A spokesperson for Wexner declined comment.
“New board chairs always refresh the committee structure and appointments. As part of that process, Les Wexner has stepped back from his role as chair of the Wexner Medical Center Board. Wexner will remain on the board as chair emeritus,” Ohio State spokesperson Ben Johnson said. “Les and Abigail have been great supporters of the university for many years, and we appreciate his ongoing service on the committee.”
