MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – Yesterday marked the second coolest day dating back to last Wednesday, and temperatures still managed to reach 98° in Montgomery. Temperatures are expected to continue that gradual decrease over the next several days.
Temperatures have quickly warmed into the middle and upper 90s this afternoon. As clouds increase across the region, it’s unlikely we’ll see temperatures near 100°, but heat indices could still be around 105° in many locations later this afternoon. While the last couple of afternoons featured better coverage of rain over the southern and southwestern portions of the state, much of central and southern Alabama will have an equal chance of seeing some isolated showers and thunderstorms pop up through the day.
A few storms could have quite the bite to them, including gusty winds, heavy rain, and frequent lightning. A few stray showers and thunderstorms could still persist into the evening, then a weaking band of showers and storms dropping southward from northern Alabama could bring a few more downpours and rumbles of thunder into the region early Friday morning…
