Rockford man charged in death of Mount Prospect infant following seven-hour delay

MOUNT PROSPECT, Ill. (WTVO) — A Rockford man has been charged in connection with a Mount Prospect infant’s death in December 2025.

According to Mount Prospect police, on December 19, 2025, around 1:09 p.m., officers responded to a call regarding an unresponsive five-month-old infant. The child was later taken to a local hospital and was pronounced dead.

The Cook County Medical Examiner later ruled that the child died from asphyxia, in which the body does not receive sufficient oxygen, which the examiner noted was caused by an unsafe sleep environment…
