A man incarcerated at the Orleans Parish jail jumped off a second-floor mezzanine in an apparent suicide attempt on Thursday afternoon, the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s office said.
The man, who was assigned to an Orleans Justice Center housing unit, walked along the mezzanine, climbed onto a chair and then threw himself over the railing. The sheriff’s office said the incident was captured on surveillance cameras.
