(NewsNation) — A judge will consider Thursday whether Karmelo Anthony, the Texas teenager convicted of killing another teen at a 2025 high school track meet, will get a new trial.
Anthony, now 19, was sentenced to 35 years in prison in June after being convicted in the fatal stabbing of 17-year-old Austin Metcalf at a track meet outside of Dallas. Anthony has maintained he acted in self defense.
Anthony’s new legal team cleared its first major hurdle Wednesday when a visiting judge ruled State District Judge John Roach, who presided over the original trial, should be removed from post-trial proceedings…
