Heat, thunderstorm chances, and a warm weekend

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — Good Friday morning! We are starting the day on a warm and muggy note, with temperatures already sitting in the mid to upper 70s. We are also tracking a weakening thunderstorm complex moving across north Alabama and north Georgia. A Heat Advisory is in effect today for Barbour, Bullock, Macon, and Russell counties through this evening, so be sure to stay hydrated and limit time outdoors if possible during the hottest part of the day.

We will also be watching for a few storms to develop this afternoon along a leftover boundary from this morning’s thunderstorm activity. Any storm that develops could produce strong, damaging wind gusts, but widespread severe weather is not anticipated. Even so, keep an eye on the sky if you have outdoor plans, especially with high school football games taking place tonight, as isolated showers and thunderstorms could create some interruptions…
