Last 2 defendants in Hartselle murder-for-hire case plead guilty, get 20 years

The final two defendants in a 2020 Hartselle murder-for-hire case pleaded guilty to murder this week and were each sentenced to 20 years in prison, concluding a case that resulted in convictions for five people.

Aaron Carter Howard, 45, of Toney, and Angela Marie Stolz, 39, of Huntsville, were each originally indicted on three counts of capital murder but pleaded guilty to one count of murder as a lesser-included offense. The other two capital murder counts against each were dismissed as part of the plea agreements.

Morgan County Circuit Judge Jennifer Howell sentenced Howard and Stolz to 20 years each in the Alabama Department of Corrections. Both were ordered to serve the full 20-year prison terms rather than receiving split sentences, and the terms are to run concurrently with any sentences they are already serving.
