Weekend will be cooler and wetter. Here’s latest on timing of rain

Any leftover showers will slowly slink to the Cape and Islands this morning, then gradually melt away this afternoon as our weakened low pressure system slowly drifts offshore.

The end result is that sun will return for many of us off Cape, with the warmest readings in northern Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire, where we close in on 80.

Weekend rain

The weekend is cooler, and in many respects wetter. That’s not to say it’s washed out. Far from it on Saturday, where we see the rain hold back and peeks of sun bust through the clouds from time to time (especially early on).

Later at night, a batch of steady (and perhaps heavy) rain will move up from NYC and douse us into Sunday morning. This will also push in much more soupy air with dew points rising into the 70s.

Right now, projections are for up to an inch of rain in the first half of Sunday, with drying in the afternoon…
