Dallas Center woman sentenced to federal prison for $572,000 fraud scheme

DES MOINES, Iowa — A Dallas Center woman has been sentenced to 18 months in federal prison after admitting to a fraud scheme that resulted in a stipulated loss of $572,081.24 from a cattle feedlot while working as its office manager.

Darci Lea Reggio pleaded guilty to one count of wire fraud in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Iowa. U.S. District Judge Rebecca Goodgame Ebinger sentenced Reggio on July 22 to 18 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release.

Reggio was also ordered to pay $559,283.70 in restitution to Brenton Brothers Inc. and a $100 special assessment. Court filings show the parties agreed the total loss attributable to Reggio was $572,081.24, with the restitution order reflecting payments already made…
