Copper theft leaves lights out along I-20

HINDS COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – A stretch of Interstate 20 in Hinds County has become a problem for drivers.

Hinds County Supervisor Anthony Smith, District 2, said suspected thieves got away with copper wire along I-20 near the Norrell Road exit. Drivers now have to deal with low visibility. This is just one example of copper wire theft that has plagued Hinds County.

“We’ve had several lights out. We had the lights on the south side of Norwell, some salvages or thieves have taken those lights, and then they came back and hit near the Continental Parkway about a month and a half ago,” said Smith…
