MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WLNS) — The Rath Yatra Festival will take place at Hartrick Park in Okemos on Saturday, and it’s an event that community members have worked on for months.
The celebration literally translates to “Chariot Journey” in Hindi. It is free and will allow residents to celebrate Indian heritage. Organizers say there will be food, music, meditation and hand-assembled chariots that will be pulled from the edge of the park to the pavilion. Rath Yatra is a celebration of joy and represents devotion and faith.
