Richmond restaurant owner says a DPU billing error cost her $60K

RICHMOND, Va—- A Richmond restaurant owner is calling for accountability after a Department of Public Utilities billing error automatically withdrew roughly $60,000 from her bank account.

Natalie McNamara, CEO of Harry’s at Hofheimer, says her normal DPU bill runs less than $2,000. So when she opened her August statement, she was stunned.

“I mean, this is obviously wrong. This is crazy, and it’s also gonna take a lot of time to figure out why I got a $58,000 bill,” McNamara said…
