Man who tried to hire hitman to kill girlfriend pleads to attempted murder

A South Toledo man who offered another man $4,000 to kill his former girlfriend entered an Alford plea Friday afternoon to attempted murder.

Timothy Murphy, 48, of the 600 block of Geneva Street, entered the pleas to five total charges in Lucas County Common Pleas Court in exchange for an agreed-upon 10-year prison term.

Judge Ken Walz said he planned to honor the agreement but intended to give Murphy 10 years for the attempted murder conviction, which means time for the other counts will be sentenced concurrently…
