Two months after being shut down, downtown Rochester’s Wyndham Hotel is getting broken into

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Wyndham Hotel in downtown Rochester remains shut down two months after the city found nearly two dozen fire and building code violations, and now the hotel is dealing with break-ins.

News10NBC’s Garrett Chan found the main entrance boarded up, along with windows and doors all around the building. Several of the windows have been smashed in recent weeks, and two Rochester police cars were camped out in front.

Behind the building, construction crews were placing metal panels and wooden boards. The city shut down the hotel back in June after inspectors found emergency exits blocked up, along with more than 70 portable air conditioning units instead of a functional central air conditioning system.
