A widening police audit of Flock license plate reader cameras in Texas has already cost three Harris County deputies their access to the system and led to discipline for a Deer Park officer.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office runs 480 Flock Safety license plate readers across 20 separate networks. Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said an internal audit led the agency to suspend access for three deputies and begin administrative reviews of their activity, according to FOX 26 Houston.
Gonzalez said the county is also adopting the newly announced safeguards from Flock, including an auditing tool designed to detect potential misuse. Deputies will now be required to enter a descriptive case code before searching a license plate.
