Authorities in Washington County, Oregon, have identified Benjamin Charles Parker, 36, as the suspect in a recent investigation involving the deaths of five individuals found on a rural property. Parker was discovered deceased inside his vehicle in Enumclaw, Washington-a small city approximately 190 miles northeast of the crime scene-where officials believe he died by suicide.
The investigation began Saturday morning after a 911 call reported a vehicle fire in unincorporated Washington County near Forest Grove, about 25 miles west of Portland. Responding sheriff’s deputies and fire personnel subsequently discovered the bodies of five people, along with several domestic animals, on the property.
Washington County Sheriff Caprice Massey described the case as a “complex investigation” and indicated that the suspect was known to the victims, suggesting the killings were not random. Detective Shannon Wilde characterized the scene as large and situated in a rural area with surrounding homes and dense vegetation.
Sheriff Massey remarked on the unusual nature of the case, stating, “In my 22 years here, I have not been a part of or witnessed a scene quite this complex involving this type of an investigation.” Authorities have confirmed there is no ongoing threat to the community as they continue efforts to identify the victims and piece together the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
