MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WKRN) — As Rutherford County Schools heads into its second year of upgraded weapons detection, school officials are reminding families and the broader community of game-day security protocols.

Before entering school athletic events, all spectators must pass through gate scanners and adhere to a strict bag policy.
“Our ultimate goal is to keep our school campuses safe,” said Libby Lee, Rocky Fork Middle School’s athletic director. “We care about the safety of our student athletes, our campus visitors, and also our game officials.”
Prohibited items include vapes, e-cigarettes, knives, tools, firearms, and ammunition. Only clear bags and clutch-style purses smaller than 4.5 inches by 6.5 inches are allowed.
