The debate over a wind farm project in Madison County will go to the taxpayers this week. The Madison County Industrial Development Agency (MCIDA) will host four public hearings Monday and Tuesday, over a proposed request for a multi-million dollar tax break from Hoffman Falls Wind, LLC.
This month, the Madison County Board of Supervisors sent a resolution to MCIDA, requesting that the County deny a PILOT request from Hoffman Falls Wind, LLC over the proposed Hoffman Falls Wind project. The project will develop an 18-turbine renewable energy facility that spans across four towns: Towns of Fenner, Nelson, Eaton, and Smithfield.
The project, originally proposed for 24-tubrines, has been permitted by the New York State Department of Public Service, Office of Renewable Energy Siting and Electric Transmission (ORES) to develop 18, 643-feet-tall turbines.
